Gamblin Gamsol

In my experience, Gamsol works as it should. Straight from the source it is completely odorless, and mixed with paint, it gives off a slightly stale compost-adjacent odor, though this is easily dealt with by airing out one’s studio/workplace regularly depending on your painting schedule.   I ordered the gallon size jug (tin, at the time, due to mislabeling). I was informed through email that the manufacturer had switched to jugs and asked if that was suitable to my needs. This was quickly resolved and my package came punctually.  The largest issue is that the jug is not shaped like it is shown online. Seems small, right? Oh child, would that it be so easy. Sure, the shape of the handle is more ergonomic for carrying, but makes it damn near impossible to open. Instead of the downward sloping handle of the picture shown here, which would make it easy for your hand to push down and shove counter-clockwise in one full rotation to loosen the cap, the handle juts up, interrupting the rotation and making it painful and incredibly difficult to open up the jug.  It would’ve been good to know that in the initial email inquiring as to whether I wanted a jug. I would certainly recommend buying this if you don’t mind that extra challenge (which resulted in rinsing out another plastic gallon jug and transferring the product), as I still believe it is more efficient to buy the larger size instead of multiple smaller containers, but if you think a smaller size will work for you and is preferable to this obstacle, go for the 32 oz.  To conclude: Fine Art Store, if a photo feature in reviews were added I would personally share my photographs of your Gamsol jug, and I strongly encourage you to upload a genuine photo of what the gallon container actually looks like. The products I’ve bought from here in person and online have never given me issue, the shipping time is very reasonable, and the customer service is quick and personable.  Just fix that one thing and you’re golden.
