R&F's Encaustic Gesso Provides an easy-to-use, water-based ground specifically formulated for use with encaustic media. This high solid acrylic primer differs from typical acrylic gesso by having a lower proportion of binder to solid. This enables the solids to be highly absorbent while retaining the adheseive qualities of the acrylic.
With R&F Encaustic Gesso you can quickly and easily apply a brushable, white ground that dries to a ready-to-paint surface for encaustic paint.

Why use an encaustic Gesso?
It replaces the more time consuming methods of making your own traditional glue-gesso or gluing paper to a support.
The non-toxic ground cleans with soap and water. It is non-yellowing, flexible, and can be painted on almost any two or three-dimensional surface.

Applicatio
For best results apply with a brush to a rigid, heat-resistant support. Use two full strength coats to ensure good coverage.
Allow drying time between coats. For a smoother surface Encaustic Gesso may be sanded.
