Mar17Written by:Jennifer Lesczinski 3/17/2009 10:30 AM Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Today is a great day to stock up on those greens you love to paint with! In fact, in our Enkaustikos encaustic paint line we have quite a selection of green shades that may interest you. From dark greens to light greens, theres a different shade for every clover you wish to paint! Here's just a glimpse of some of our popular greens:
 | Chromium Oxide Green Pigment Color Index name PG7
Chromium Oxide Green is a rich opaque earthy green. This green has a warm masstone, almost olive in nature, but has a cool undertone. When lightened with Titanium White it takes on a silvery green hue. An easy color to use in mixes as it does not over power. | | Cobalt Green Pigment Color Index name PG50
Cobalt Green is proably the closest paint we have that could be called a Kelly Green. Cobalt Green is opaque but only has a moderate tinting strength so it is easily altered to go warmer or cooler depending on your palette. If tinting with white alone, it will take on a cool minty shade.
| | Cobalt Green Light Pigment Color Index name PG50
Cobalt Green Light is semi-transparent and has a low tinting strength. A very mellow green that is perfect just the way it is, no need to alter this color. This is a single pigment paint that is lighter than the Cobalt Green, in other words, no white added. It is also a slightly cooler green.
| | Vagone Green Earth Mixture PG17, PB27
Vagone Green Earth is a green earth that has been enhanced with Prussian Blue. Highly transparent, it makes it a perfect choice for glazing. Vagone green is a subtle mid-value cool green with moderate tinting strength and it tends to have a graying effect which produces shades reminiscent of the colors one would see along the New England coast.
